AAA Organized Plumbing provides trenchless sewer repair technology that fixes broken, cracked, and root-damaged sewer lines without destroying your landscaping, driveway, or outdoor living spaces. Traditional sewer replacement requires excavating a trench the full length of the damaged pipe – tearing up lawns, gardens, walkways, and sometimes driveways in the process. Trenchless methods repair or replace the pipe from the inside, requiring only one or two small access points. This means faster completion, less property disruption, and often lower total project cost when restoration expenses are factored in. Our technicians are trained in both pipe lining (CIPP) and pipe bursting methods to provide the right solution for your specific sewer line condition. From root-damaged clay pipes in Ukiah to deteriorated cast iron lines in Healdsburg and aging sewer mains across the Napa Valley, we deliver permanent repairs without the mess. Call (707) 200-3159 for a free sewer evaluation.
We offer two primary trenchless technologies, each suited to different pipe conditions and repair objectives.

CIPP lining installs a new pipe inside your existing pipe without removing the old one. A flexible liner saturated with epoxy resin is inserted through an existing access point and positioned within the damaged section. The liner is then inflated against the pipe walls and cured using heat, UV light, or ambient temperature, creating a smooth, jointless pipe-within-a-pipe. The cured liner seals cracks, bridges gaps at offset joints, blocks root entry points, and restores structural integrity. CIPP lining works on pipe diameters from 4 to 12 inches and can line straight runs, gentle bends, and multiple pipe materials including clay, cast iron, PVC, and concrete.

Pipe bursting replaces the existing pipe entirely by pulling a new HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipe through the old one while simultaneously breaking the old pipe outward into the surrounding soil. A bursting head attached to the new pipe is pulled through the old line by a hydraulic winch, fracturing the old pipe and dragging the new pipe into position behind it. Pipe bursting is ideal when the existing pipe is too deteriorated for lining, when upsizing to a larger diameter is desired, or when the pipe material (such as Orangeburg) is too soft for lining. The method requires access pits at each end of the run but no trenching between them.

CIPP lining is generally preferred when the existing pipe is structurally intact enough to support a liner, when the pipe diameter doesn’t need to change, and when minimizing access points is the priority. Pipe bursting is the better option when the existing pipe has collapsed sections, when upsizing is needed, or when the pipe material doesn’t provide adequate support for a liner. In some cases, a combination approach – lining one section and bursting another – provides the most cost-effective solution. Our camera inspection determines which method is right for your situation.
Every trenchless repair begins with a thorough camera inspection to evaluate the pipe condition and determine the appropriate repair method.

We insert a high-resolution camera into the sewer line to document the full length of pipe from the house to the main. The camera identifies the location and severity of every problem including cracks, root intrusion, offset joints, bellies (low spots), scale buildup, and collapses. This video record is essential for determining whether trenchless repair is feasible and which method to use. We share the camera footage with you so you can see the condition for yourself.

After completing the trenchless repair, we perform a second camera inspection to verify the liner has cured properly or the new pipe has been placed correctly. This confirms complete coverage, proper diameter, no wrinkles or obstructions, and connection integrity at lateral junctions. The post-repair video becomes part of your permanent documentation.
Trenchless repair costs depend on the method used, pipe length, diameter, depth, and condition. While the pipe-work itself may cost more than traditional trenching, total project cost is often comparable or lower when you factor in the landscape, driveway, and hardscape restoration that traditional methods require. Here are general ranges:
CIPP Pipe Lining (residential sewer main, 4-inch): $4,000–$8,000 for typical 50–80 foot runs
Pipe Bursting (residential sewer main, 4-inch to 4-inch): $5,000–$10,000 for typical runs
Pipe Bursting with Upsizing (4-inch to 6-inch): $6,000–$12,000
Sewer Camera Inspection (pre-repair): $150–$300
Spot Repair (trenchless lining of a short section): $1,500–$3,500
Cost factors specific to Northern California include:

Homeowners in Ukiah, Willits, Mendocino, and Fort Bragg with mature landscaping, established gardens, and finished driveways have the most to gain from trenchless methods. These properties would incur significant restoration costs from traditional trenching – often exceeding the cost of the pipe work itself. Trenchless repair preserves your landscaping investment while providing a permanent sewer solution.

Wine country estates, historic homes, and properties with custom hardscaping throughout Healdsburg, St. Helena, Yountville, and Calistoga cannot afford the aesthetic damage of full-trench excavation. Trenchless repair maintains property appearance and value while delivering a modern sewer solution rated for 50+ years of service.

Businesses cannot afford extended closures for sewer excavation across parking lots, sidewalks, or building interiors. Trenchless methods minimize business disruption by completing repairs in 1–2 days rather than the week or more required for traditional dig-and-replace. Restaurants, retail shops, and office buildings throughout the region benefit from this reduced downtime.

CIPP pipe lining is rated for a 50-year service life by most manufacturers. HDPE pipe installed through pipe bursting has an expected lifespan of 75–100+ years. Both methods provide a permanent repair, not a temporary fix. The new pipe or liner is resistant to root intrusion, corrosion, and the joint failures that caused the original problem.
In most cases, yes. Clay (vitrified clay pipe) is one of the most common pipe materials we repair using trenchless methods. CIPP lining works well on clay pipes that are cracked, have offset joints, or have root infiltration at joints – as long as the pipe hasn’t fully collapsed. If sections have collapsed, pipe bursting can replace the clay pipe with new HDPE. Our camera inspection determines which method your pipe can support.
Minimal digging is required. CIPP lining typically requires access only at an existing cleanout opening. Pipe bursting requires two small access pits – one at each end of the section being replaced – each typically 3–4 feet square. Compare this to a traditional sewer replacement trench that runs the full length of the pipe at 2–3 feet wide and 4–8 feet deep.
The pipe work itself may cost slightly more, but the total project cost is often comparable or lower. Traditional sewer replacement requires excavation plus restoration of everything the trench disturbed – lawn, landscaping, driveways, walkways, tree roots, sprinkler systems, and sometimes utility lines. When you add restoration costs, trenchless methods frequently come in at the same or lower total price with far less disruption.
CIPP lining requires enough of the original pipe structure to support the liner during installation, so it’s not suitable for fully collapsed sections. However, pipe bursting can handle collapsed pipes because it breaks the old pipe outward while pulling the new pipe through. For pipes with both lined-able sections and collapsed sections, we can combine methods – lining the intact portions and bursting the collapsed areas.
CIPP lining requires curing time – typically 4–6 hours for UV-cured liners or overnight for ambient-cure liners before the line can be put back in service. Pipe bursting connections are typically completed and testable the same day. We coordinate the timeline so you know exactly when your plumbing will be back in full service.
